Coach Bufano Named Varsity Boys Soccer Coach at Perennial Champion Stowe High School

MONDAY, AUGUST 17TH 2020 - Stowe High School has announced the hiring of Queen City FC President/Director Shane Bufano as the new Head Varsity Boys Soccer Coach at Stowe High School.  Bufano replaces long time coaching legend Brian Buczek (also former coach at Johnson State College and Director of Vermont United Soccer Academy) for the Raiders.  The Raiders are currently in the run of 8 straight VSAC State Championships across Divisions 2 and 3 as Bufano will look to continue that streak.  Last year the Raiders finished the season 17-0-1 en route to their 8th straight State Championship knocking off Middlebury 2-0 at South Burlington High School.  Included with those accolades was 6 selections to the VSCA Division II All-State team as well as an impressive 11 selections to the All-Capital League team.  The Raiders graduated 10 seniors, including all 3 captains from the 2019 squad as the 2020 team will have a number of new faces.

"I'd like to thank Athletic Director Kevin Lipple for giving me this opportunity and hope to carry the success of outgoing coach Buczek.  I'm really excited to meet the guys soon and be a part of the winning tradition at Stowe," said Coach Bufano.  "With a lot of players graduating, you can expect this years squad will learn early on the first day of training not to depend on past successes as the last 8 Championships do not entitle us to win in 2020.  With a fresh slate on day 1, you can expect our boys to work hard in the classroom, produce maximum effort on the field, and outwork our opponents from the get go to make the Stowe community proud and keep things moving in the right direction."

Bufano who is currently the Head Men's Soccer Coach at Northern Vermont University-Johnson will continue to lead the Badgers on their campus in Johnson, Vermont.  "I will still continue to work as the Head Coach with the Badgers, and do all the recruiting and admininstrative work.  Our season is on a bit of a hiatus due to Covid-19 but I plan to give 100 percent in both gigs.  We hope to have some games once restrictions are opened up with NCAA sports, but for now we will continue to grind and train."

The schedule for the Stowe Raiders is to be determined as the Vermont Principals Association and NVAC are still working on the modified season with Covid-19.
